I was at a client yesterday talking about their online marketing.
Another one of my clients had a R100 000 payday last week. This client I saw yesterday could also have R100 000 paydays; he has 15 branches (X15)! The goal is R50 million more sales in the next 12 months.
When I was working for a corporate many years ago, the team drastically increased sales from R200 million to R500 million a month in 18 months.
How do you grow your business?
There are a couple of things you need to have in place. If you do not have this in place growing your business becomes hard:
- Set targets: You need to have broken down the sales targets, per area, per product or service, per branch, per person, per year, per month, per week, per day.
- Measure weekly: You must measure results weekly. Do not wait for end of the month. That is too late!
- CRM: You need a customer relationship management tool (I like to call it a lead management tool). I use PipeDrive (click this link and get more time to test for free). A client discovered R2,5 milion and closed R159 000 in the first week after we helped them with implementing this tool.
- Leads: You need people to talk to. This can be your internal database of clients, or generating new leads. Need more leads? Lead generation (get a marketing machine!).
Back in 2008 / 2009 the internet in South Africa was getting some traction. Now, 10 years later there are even more people using the internet. More people, more searches, bigger demand.
BUT; there is also more competition online.
If you are not investing in online marketing to support your business growth; you cannot benefit from it.
If you are not in it you cannot win it!
This client I was at yesterday is getting ready for some digital marketing. I showed him a new competitor in his industry. This competitor had a R400 million cash injection a while back. Make no mistake. The world is changing. At some point your options will run out.
There is a learning and experimentation curve in marketing. This is where you get your message right; focus on the right audience, have a good sales process and start seeing results.
When last did you try to sell DVD’s?
There is NO market for selling DVD’s anymore. Too many people are using online media services. This changed drastically the last 5 years. Even more companies are entering this lucrative market. Markets change. Customer behavior change. You need to keep innovating in your business.
Are you ready?
